It all began with this ramp for Charlie Wilson...

for more information on that story please visit HERE

You may have seen the story below about Jeannette Bennett and her 12 year old son Lucas who live in Ohio and are in need of a wheelchair ramp. This story has traveled a lot of miles and those miles were worth it as the problem has been solved by a wonderful couple who live in the Maine area. Ken and Kathy Wagstaff contacted me wanting to help get the ramp to Lucas. You see, when Charlie Wilson sadly passed away before he could use the original ramp above and part of it was moved to Cory Miller's house to help him there were parts and materials left over but we had no way of getting them to Ohio for Lucas.

On the Way!

Well the Wagstaff's arrived in Havana on Wednesday evening of May 7th and we headed for the home of Dan Wilson. As you can see above, the ramp for Lucas is on it's way to Ohio and will be there on Monday afternoon. Happy Mother's Day, Jeannette!  Thanks to Jeannette doing an internet search while looking for a ramp and thanks to the Wagstaff's who are regular visitors to 62644.com for volunteering to make the delivery possible, Charlie's Ramp is doing a lot of good where it is needed now. I am amazed sometimes just how things work out. Dan can tell you that too, and thanks again to everyone who are making this happen. Friends of Lucas in Ohio will be setting the ramp in place for him and Jeannette will be taking pictures and sending them back to us.

Jeannette's Search for a Wheelchair Ramp

Jeannette Bennett is a mom who lives in Goshen, Ohio. Her 12 year old son Lucas suffers with spina bifida. Jeannette has been trying to get a wheelchair ramp for Lucas so he can get outside more so she got on the Internet and typed the following search information into Ask.com...

need a company to donate lumber materials for wheelchair ramp in ohio - Ask.co

This search as you have seen if you clicked the link above, brought her here to 62644.com. Jeannette wrote me the following email on Tuesday, March 18th....

"Hi my name is Jeannette Bennett and I am trying to find someone to build a wheelchair ramp for my son Lucas who is 12 that was born with spina bifida.  Lucas cant move his legs and has had over forty surgeries and there are more to come.  Lucas doesn't ever complain on how he is but there are some times he says that he wishes he was like his other two brothers that can just come and go into the house anytime. Right now for Lucas to be able to go out side and play with his brothers I have to carry his wheelchair out and then carry him out side and then do it all over again to bring him in the house. sometimes Lucas doesn't like to ask me because he feels that I do alot for him as it is now. I think if I can get this ramp put at my house that he would go out side more and play with us. I would love it if you can help my family or know of someone in my state that could help get this done. I am kind of of wanting to have this done by the summer time so that we can all go out in the woods and play paintball, Lucas loves that but sometimes he doesn't want to come because he feels that there is too much work in it for me to get him out side. I believe that kids need to outside more. Jeannette Bennett, 6380 State Route 727, Goshen Ohio 45122, 513-294-2159, durbinanthony@yahoo.com ."

I have written her back after doing some research and gave her some links and contacts to hopefully help her in her search. Since we get visitors from all over in our great country I wanted to also place her story online here in hopes that someone  might know someone in that area who could help or just drop her a note of support would be a great lift for her sprits I am sure. The ironic part is that we have a wheelchair ramp available here. When Dan Wilson moved the ramp from his dad's house to Cory Miller's home there is enough materials left to provide Lucas with a ramp but getting it there is impossible for us to do at this time. So if you have resources to get our ramp to Lucas please contact us here at 62644.com. Thank you to everyone for helping in any way you can.
