The "Eagle's Nest" Along with the work on the river access ramps, maintaining all our beautiful parks including the swimming pool, our Havana Park District is also hard at work on many other projects including “The Eagle’s Nest” as locals are calling it. This construction site will soon be the home of Havana’s River Welcome facility. It will sell food, drinks, and other needed items for boaters and visitors. What a view and what a place to watch the eagles with a cup of hot chocolate about February. Since the Eagle Days Festival itself has left Havana, this will be the main focus of the winter season Eagle viewing in Havana. The construction is scheduled for completion in the next couple of months with the cooperation of the weatherman. There will also be additional docks extending out to the existing pilings. I have spent a lot of time down there shooting eagles, with my camera, and thinking wouldn’t it be nice to have a spot here where people could come and watch these magnificent birds in their natural habitat and we in ours, inside and warm. I am sure this new spot will become extremely popular with out of town eagle watchers along with our local residents. |
