HighSchoolSports.net has an interesting origin. It is a subsidiary of Schedule Star. Schedule Star was started in 1964 in Midland Park, N.J., by Adolph "Sonny" Santorine. Sonny was a former professional baseball player with the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league organization. After Sonny left baseball he started a career in teaching and coaching at Midland Park High School. By 1964 he was coaching football, basketball and baseball and was the school's Athletic Director.

As the Athletic Director, he quickly learned about the complexity of managing all sports programs --- facilities, coaches, students, parents, officials, scheduling, transportation and much more. To stay organized, he created a custom book, much like a day planner, tracking all the logistics of all sports. Sonny attended the various Athletic Director conferences at the league, state and national levels and showed his peers how he stayed organized. They asked if he could make one for them. Athletic Directors with Sonny's book would tell others about their system and requests for the book started pouring in. So, on top of being the Athletic Director, coaching three sports, and raising three children, Sonny decided there was a market for his book. He and his wife Helen bought a small printing press, put it in the basement and Schedule Star was born. Through the 60's, 70's, and 80's Sonny and Helen attended Athletic Directors conferences across the country and marketed the book. Each year, Athletic Directors would pay for refill sheets for the book. Moreover, through this period he kept his "day" job teaching, running the Midland Park High School sports programs and coaching.

In the 90's as technology started to change, Sonny and Helen changed with it. With the help of their oldest son Adolph, they launched a software package for schools who wanted to introduce an electronic organizer. Then in the later 90's, Sonny handed over the day-to-day operations to Adolph and his wife Lora Kaye. They launched an internet software package for annual subscription, which with the rise of the internet, took off. Sonny and Helen are still active in the company and confer with Adolph and Lora Kaye frequently on strategic decisions.

Today, HighSchoolSports.net is the nation's #1 internet site devoted solely to high school sports. The company has over 6,500 schools subscribing to the Schedule Star athletic management system that feeds HighSchoolSports.net. Despite the company's size, we look at the site one school at a time. That is why every page on our site flies the banner - My School, My Team, Our World. Our overall goal is to raise the profile of each school's athletic program. The content for each school includes the most up to date and accurate schedules for all sports at all levels. The reason it is so accurate and up to date is because the data is supplied by the Athletic Director on a daily basis. In addition, users can get driving directions, news stories, sports specific athletic and fitness training, information on post high school choices and purchase custom spirit wear and photographs. Users also have the unique ability to review pictures, videos and scores for their favorite teams. We are working on developing rankings, brackets, and more.
