The Havana High School Gym... was definitely the place to be on Thursday evening. Our great jazz band and choral group would have been enough for a great evening of music but they also invited saxophone great, Mark Colby to the program.
Stan Getz once said of Mark Colby, "He is a master of the saxophone and master of the music he plays." He has performed with greats such as Frank Sinatra, Maynard Ferguson, Bob James, Gerry Mulligan, Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Haden, Mose Allison, and Robert Goulet. He also has over 2,000 commercials to his credits in the competitive Chicago market. Mr. Colby has also been with DePaul University and Elmhurst College as a jazz faculty member. He also has many fans in Havana.
