The Havana High School Musical Department has many different faces when you consider all the different things they do and all the different music they play. Tonight, March 19th, at the High School Gym, Mr. Matt Johnson served as the Guest Adjudicator for Judge's Night. Now we all know that a good judge can always find some small area that could be improved upon while looking for perfection and that is their job. Mr. Johnson had a difficult job tonight.
Musical Director, Mr. George Caton, has once again instilled his love and passion for music into a very impressive group of HHS Students. This very talented group has won and greatly deserve many awards all to the credit of their own hard work and dedication. The perform many different types of music including classical to jazz. Personally, I think one of their best is "On Broadway". Their performance of this popular show tune is just simply very well done, but every time I hear them they surprise me with something new and great I have not heard them do before. I can not say enough, please come and see these performances, there are not many left this year. The gym should be packed at every performance. Constantly, I hear...there is nothing to do in this town. Here is your chance to really enjoy a great evening of fantastic music and you will be amazed that it has been performed by our own HHS Musical Department.
The Musical Department will be participating in the Illinois High School Association Music Contest on Friday, April 3rd hosted by PORTA High School. Their annual Spring Concert will be performed at the HHS Gym on Monday, May 4th at 7:00. Their final performance of the year will be at the HHS Graduation Ceremonies on Wednesday, May 20th at 7:00.
