NOTE: I was able to stop by the HJHS gym on Friday afternoon to visit with the girls who were back working hard at a practice session to prepare for Beardstown on Monday. The girls were still pumped over their win on Thursday night against Pleasant Plains for the Regional Championship so we took a few minutes to have a little fun and celebrate with some photographs. OUR GIRLS ARE REGIONAL CHAMPIONS
Havana Junior High School’s 8th Grade Volleyball team defeated Pleasant Plains in last night’s Regional #9 Championship Match played in Green Valley. The 8th grade team went into last night’s match with a record of 14 and 4. Pleasant Plains’ record was 19 -2, and Havana knew they had their work cut out for them.
Plains won the first set with a score of 25 -14. Havana came back and defeated Plains winning the second and thirds sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-16 respectively. Havana will travel to Pittsfield – Pikeland on Monday to take on Regional #10 winner Beardstown at 6:00. Beardstown’s current record is 15 – 5 and Havana’s Record is 15 – 4.
The coaching staff for Havana Junior High Volleyball is Coach Mike Schroeder and Coach Vanessa Olroyd. The overall record for both the 7th grade and 8th grade this year is 31-10.
